A Run and a ‘Rita

After a long, busy work week I met a friend for a run last night.  Since it’s still 1000 degrees in south Texas we decided we should meet at 7pm when it’s “only” in the mid-90s.  At 6:15 I realized all my (good) running clothes were in the hamper, and ALMOST said forget it!  I rummaged through my drawers and found some old shorts with a too-tight-waistband and a top that was not my favorite.

It was great bitching venting about our week.  Running with a partner usually involves talking – so it’s a good challenge to keep up your pace and try to control your breathing.  It sounds like this:

“(Huff, puff)  So today was so (huff) freaking (puff) crazy right!?”

Love my Texas skies.

I had looked forward to running all day.  It felt great to run into the sunset.

Nothing says Tex-Mex like a frozen margarita in a cactus-stem glass!

And I was also looking forward to this reward all day.  After my run, my husband and I had a late night dinner at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants.  I broke from my vegetarian diet – I do this about once a month and it was high time – and had my fave dish here – Fideo with picadillo meat and beans.  It’s a type of Mexican noodle soup.  Perfect end to the week!

Fun! Can you update us on your little one?

    • Thank you so much for asking – he is healing up slowly but surely. I was discovering new bruises on him each day – upper thighs, stomach, shins. Poor guy was limping at first but fine now. The abrasions on his knees were the worst but everything is getting back to normal. He said he’s not going near any more treadmills. Thanks again for your concern!
